Sign Construction Begins

15 July 2015

After a bit of a wait, installation of our new sign began today. They are pouring the concrete today and it needs to set for a few days prior to the actual sign being installed. Keep your eyes peeled when passing by the station to keep tabs on the progress, and for messages from the Berkeley Hills Volunteers!

The Beginning of the End...

27 February 2015

Today marked the "beginning of the end" for the current sign for the Berkeley Hills Fire Company as Duquesne Light disconnected the power lines so that removal of the old sign could begin. We'll be replacing it with a new electronic sign in the weeks to come, though the new sign will probably not be installed (due to weather) until the end of March or early April. We will occasionally show the progress here with some pictures, so check back and watch while you're driving by the station!

Berkeley Hills introduces Special Active membership

Are you a retired firefighter but want to drive fire engines occasionally?
Are you living far away but want to run calls when you're in town?
Is your emergency service employment and personal life making it hard to spend time running calls as much as you would like?
Running with a nearby department but want to run extra calls with us?

Special Active status might be for you.

Berkeley Hills Fire Company has introduced a new membership class, targeted towards those with emergency service experience, past or present. Called Special Active, members who meet the criteria will be exempt from meeting our regular annual fire call and training requirements. To be eligible for Special Active status, you will be: A suitably trained firefighter or medic, trained to a level so you are able to make an immediate contribution to the department and; A current member or employee with another fire department or EMS agency, or a retired career or volunteer firefighter with at least 20 years experience.

For more information, please contact the membership committee via the web form here: http://www.station247.org/site/membership.php

Highway Safety Program Class

Members of the Berkeley Hills and Evergreen Fire Companies attended the Highway Safety Program on Tuesday November 26th hosted by the Berkeley Hills Fire Company.

The program instructed by Operational Supervisor Steve Kline from the Ross West View EMS Authority reinforced the aspect of situational awareness involving roadway incidents. Roadway related injuries and fatalities continue to plague not only the emergency services fields but all roadway workers who have to deal with anything involving our nation’s highways.

The program gave each student the understanding of how we can improve our safety as well as the motorists who are unaware of our presence during these incidents.

Thank you Steve, for a very informative and educational program.
