Founded in 1942, Berkeley Hills Fire Company is one of few staffed yet 100% volunteer fire companies in Allegheny County. Company 247 is located at 235 Siebert Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Berkeley Hills is arguably one of the busiest firehouses in the county, and operates an Engine Company, Truck Company, QRS Squad, and a Duty Chief. Station 247 is staffed solely by a dedicated group of volunteers that understand the need for timely and quality emergency services.
COVERAGE AREA & FIRST DUE
Our primary response area, or first due, is comprised of many diverse occupancies. We protect a population of over 30,000 people daily, with influxes up to 100,000 people during the daytime. Our first due comprises of the McKnight Road commercial corridor, Ross Park Mall, various other shopping centers, offices, and medical facilities, large multi-building apartment plans, and vastly growing neighborhoods.
ENGINE & TRUCK COMPANY OPERATIONS
Company 247 operates an Engine and Truck Company for primary fire suppression, search and rescue, technical rescue, and more. We believe in the notion that the Engine Company puts out the fire and the Truck Company searches for trapped victims and rescues them to safety. We achieve this through rigorous training, established standard operating procedures, riding assignments, and set job responsibilities for every firefighter riding our apparatus.
