Since 1942, Berkeley Hills has been the spearhead of aggressive, proactive firefighting in the North Hills of Allegheny County. Company 247 is one of the busiest all-volunteer fire departments in the county, and staffs fire apparatus 24/7/365. With over 2,000 annual runs, continual training, and an endless network of knowledge, the opportunity for experience couldn’t be greater. Professional Training at No Cost

From Firefighter 1 to EMT, EVOC, HazMat, and officer-level courses, you’ll receive comprehensive, nationally recognized training — completely free. We train in-house daily to ensure we provide the best firefighting service in the region.

Educational & Career Support

Eligible members can apply for scholarships, including the Fire Vest Scholarship, to pursue an associate degree in Fire Science. Many members of Berkeley Hills have successfully pursued full-time careers in firefighting around the country, thanks to the support and knowledge base we offer.

The Berkeley Hills Live-in Program

Established in 2018, the Berkeley Hills Live-in Program offers free housing, living amenities, brotherhood, immersive training, and the chance to build lifelong experiences. We offer private and semi-private rooms and much more through the program. Participants commit to 40 hours of staffing weekly and must have Firefighter 1 and EMT within a year.
