Just after 3am this morning, The North Hills Engine Company and both Squads responded on Box 253-001 with 7 volunteers to a reported house on fire. Engine 247 arrived first due to find smoke showing from a 2 story single family and located a fire in the basement. E247 made quick work and extinguished the fire preventing further extension. Company 247 operated for an hour and a half before returning to service.

Working smoke detectors alerted the residents to the presence of fire and allowed them to evacuate quickly. Early detection of the fire ensured prompt notification for fire departments to respond. Remember to test your smoke detectors regularly and replace expired ones, or install ones where absent in your home. If you need assistance with smoke detectors, reach out to us, Ross Twp. Fire Marshall, or RFES.
